It's Funny How That Is

It's Funny How That Is

Why is it that whiskey taste better from an old beat up tin cup?
Where the stars are just a shining and the moon just hangs above.
Where stories somehow linger and not a word is ever missed.
I don’t have the answer and its funny how that is.

Why is it that the air smells better when your way up in the hills?
It’s a place where the fog lies on the lake and there is a mornings chill.
It’s where moments are important and God somehow forgives.
I don’t have the answer and its funny how that is.

It is a place where cigars taste much better with a glass of wine.
It is a place where thoughts are offered with those dear old friends of mine.
It’s where time has value and memories are relived.
I don’t have the answer and its funny how that is.

I remember years ago when it was me and my old man.
Just riding beneath the summer sun where the lonely pine trees stand.
Boy, those were memories back when I was just a kid.
See he had all the answers and its funny how that is.

From love, life and Leon and all the special friends I knew.
The moments spent through the years and those moments still hold true.
That old chair I will cherish and it’s where our memories will always live.
Just a special place in my heart and it’s funny how that is.

Why does that old piano take such a hold of me?
How I close my eyes and soak up those old time melodies.
It’s just the souls that play them and all they have to give.
Seems they all have the answer and its funny how that is.

Why do I listen to old cowboys and the stories that they tell.
From their life upon the saddle and how they cheated hell.
Then they suddenly get quiet and talk of the ponies that they’ve rid.
Thes old boys have the answer and its funny how that is.

Why is it that I have so much to do but I’ll be just short of time?
I’ll collect those precious memories and I’ll hold them in my mind.
You know it’s just a darn shame that I’ll have but one life to live.
I’m still searching for the answer and its funny how that is.

What if the Moon Disappeared

There was a full moon hanging on that cold December night.
I was asked a question and it sounded so sincere.
It's haunted me for days on end, the answer gave me fright.
What if the moon disappeared?

Would the Coyotes stop howling if it didn't hang above?
Would I still stare at the stars when the nights are cold and clear?
Would I still find the passion in this simple life I love?
What if the moon disappeared?

Would the mountains look as pretty at the crest of harvest time?
Would the singers si… Continue

Lasso the Moon

Lasso the Moon

Where the night is filled with stars,

Where you sing a song from far,

Where the canyon cliffs are scared,

I'll lasso the moon.

Where lonely fills the night,

Where there are a million stars so bright,

Where life begins at morning light,

I'll lasso the moon.

Where the sun is over head by noon,

Where at night there's a harvest moon,

Where winter comes too soon,

I'll lasso the moon.

Where you leave your soul unprotected,

Where the evening sun is reflected,

Wh… Continue

Last thoughts

I remember that very moment when I heard my phone faintly ring.
Not prepared for the bad news or for the feelings it would bring.
A conversation that I’ve ran through my mind for oh so many years.
At that very moment I realized my deep and darkest fears.

All my friends and family view me as the strong and mighty one.
I can hide it with the best of them; all the battles I have won.
But this battle is finally over and I have no words to say.
I remember that very moment and it just won’t go away.… Continue

Conversation

I had a wonderful conversation with a life long friend of mine
She as special as the day is long and is as pretty as a rose
Her heart is big as Texas and her lips as sweet as wine
To me she is that special one and I know it surely shows

The point I’m trying to make here is one of time and mood
How a simple conversation can change the reflection of a day
How her warm and gentle eyes can change my attitude
Look at things quite differently and know this attitude will stay

See I was driving across… Continue

Hello Michael,

I miss you a lot. I miss our chats.
I hope your having a wonderful day. The sun is shinning here, and I have been doing a lot of nature walks lately.

I sit at the river and watch the bevers at play and the geese chase one another.

I close my eyes and listen to what nature has to say. It is just so beautiful.
I am getting ready to go for a walk now.

I love you my dear friend,

I'm smiling,
Are you?

Good Afternoon Michael

Your words were such an inspiration to read
I love the line about collecting memories, it's so very true and it's what life is all about

To be a cowboy, out on the range, all peaceful and quiet must be such a treat in life. I cannot even begin to imagine what that would feel like; Maybe someday, the opportunity will present itself.

Relish in the day, and may sunshine always put a smile on your face
